Grand Prize Winner – Deneve Sweeney, Wolmer’s Trust High School for Girls

Congratulations to the winners of the Martin Luther King Jr. Essay Competition on the topic “I have a dream for an inclusive Jamaica”.

The winners received their gifts from Ambassador Luis G. Moreno.

Grand Prize Winner, Deneve Sweeney of Wolmer’s Trust High School for Girls was awarded an iPad and a set of MLK Jr. Books for her School Library.

Sujae H. Boswell, winner of the Popular vote was awarded a Tablet.

In celebration of Dr. King’s historic accomplishments in advancing social justice and equal citizens for national communities, the U.S. Embassy Kingston invited students ages 13-19 years, to participate in the MLKJ Essay Competition.

Inspired by Dr King’s “I Have a Dream” speech, students were asked to describe their vision for Jamaica’s future in no more than 1,000 words.
