Public Affairs Section (PAS)

The Public Affairs Section is the Press, Information, Culture and Education section of the Embassy. It provides information about the policies of the United States and supports those interested in learning more about the U.S. and its underlying principles.

The head of the Public Affairs Section is the Public Affairs Officer (PAO), who is also the Embassy’s Spokesperson. Press inquiries to any section of the Embassy should be directed in the first instance to the PAO.

Each day latest news from all over the world is available at our IIP Digital Portal. The easiest access to it, for users of the World Wide Web, is to click on the link above.

The PAS administers a variety of educational exchange programs, including the Fulbright program. Although opportunities for scholarships are nearly nonexistent, very large numbers of students come to the U.S. each year to take advantage of our highly advanced and frequently very specialized educational programs. For more information on our exchange programs, please visit the website for the Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

Educational Advisor

The PAS has an EducationUSA Advisor who provides valuable information to individuals who have their own or other institutional means to study in the U.S., and need to know how to go about finding an appropriate university, how to apply, and how to prepare for student life in America. This office also makes available the registration forms for the required examinations necessary for entry into undergraduate and graduate programs in U.S. universities and colleges. The EducationUSA Advisor is available to advise students and their parents on Tuesdays through Fridays 8:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m.

In all of these areas, information is key. In keeping with the electronic information revolution, our old paper-copy libraries have been replaced by an Information Resource Center (IRC).  Books are still readily available on the shelves, but our collections have moved primarily to on-line databases.  The Robeson IRC is open to individual researchers  on Tuesdays through Fridays from 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.  For  more information, call in advance of visiting at the phone number 702-6172/702-7172.
