Richard Griffiths Speaks On Media Education for Justice, Development and Social Change

On May 3, 2017, the U.S. Embassy, Kingston commemorated World Press Freedom Day with invited guest, Richard Griffiths, former Vice President and Senior Editorial Director of CNN. Under the theme “Media Education for Justice, Development and Social Change”, Griffiths was the keynote speaker at the University of Technology’s annual Final Year Exhibition for the Communication Arts and Technology program, which commenced the three-day exchange.










During the first leg of his visit, Griffiths participated in a panel discussion looking at the importance of integrity and fairness in news reporting and engaged in small group sessions with members of the local media and tertiary level media students on the topic, “the endangered news room in the age of social media”. The three-day exchange culminated with a public lecture at the University of Technology Western Campus in Montego Bay, St James. Guests included academics, members of the media and tertiary level students.
