U.S. Embassy hosts Pre-Departure Seminar for J’cans Studying Abroad

The Embassy of the United States of America invites students admitted to U.S. colleges and universities for the 2015-2016 academic year to a Pre-Departure Orientation session – The More You Know Before You Go.

This seminar is designed to prepare students for their transition to the United States and will inform them of the skills necessary for adapting to a new environment.  Topics to be discussed include academic norms, cultural differences, weather and climate conditions by region, housing, travel requirements and matters to keep in mind upon returning to Jamaica.

This event is intended for students studying for the first time in the US, and their parents, guardians, or teachers.

The seminar is scheduled for Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at the U.S. Embassy, 142 Old Hope Road, Kingston 6, starting at 10:00 am.  Persons interested in attending must email their name, American institution (to attend) and contact details to kingstonIRC@state.gov by Monday, July 13th in order to be admitted.
