U.S. Embassy in Partnership with the United States Southern Command Back to School Donation

The United States Southern Command through its Humanitarian Assistance Program (HAP) has funded a back-to-school initiative in partnership with the Jamaica Public Service Company Community Renewal Department through the National Education Trust. The donation of 800 backpacks and associated school supplies valued at over US$22,000, forms part of ongoing scholastic support and other initiatives by the U.S. Embassy and the Department of Defense to support the educational needs of children in Jamaica. The much needed back to school items will be delivered to students residing in Kingston, St. Thomas and  St. James, including Bicker Steph Primary, Harbor View Primary, St. Benedicts Primary, Anchovy Primary and High School. Participants in today’s handover included U.S. Embassy’s Chargé d’ Affaires, Jon McIntyre, LCDR Vanessa Sonnichsen, Deputy SCO Chief, U.S. Embassy, Mrs. Kerica McGregor-Clue – Community Relations Officer (JPS), Latoya Harris – Director Donor and Partner Relations, National Education Trust.
