Are you a young entrepreneur or civil society leader? Join the YLAI Professional Fellows Program!

Great News! The program has been extended until April 28. 

The Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI) Professional Fellows Program, sponsored by the Department of State, is seeking young entrepreneurs and civil society leaders from Jamaica to take part in five weeks of training focused on commercial and social entrepreneurship in October and November 2017 in the United States. Applications has been extended to Friday, April 28, 2017.  This program is yet another important step in the Department of State’s commitment to cultivating entrepreneurship and spreading innovative ideas from civil society in the Americas.

Through the YLAI Entrepreneurship Institute and the individualized Fellowships, YLAI Fellows will accelerate their commercial and social ventures’ success and develop specific action plans to carry out upon return to their home countries. YLAI Fellows will build networks, linkages and lasting partnerships to attract investments and support for their entrepreneurial ventures. In October 2016, eight Jamaicans participated in the program, which began in Dallas and ended in Washington D.C.

The program is open to Jamaican entrepreneurs and civil society leaders who meet the following requirements:

  • Are between 21 and 35
  • Resident in Jamaica
  • Have at least two (2) years professional experience/ in startup business or social venture
  • Proficient in reading, writing and speaking English

The YLAI Professional Fellows Program is an open, merit-based competition. There is no cost to apply. Submit application by April 28. Semifinalists will be contacted to schedule an interview in June. All applicants will be notified of their status in August 2017.
